Meet Our Leadership Team

John D. Sprandio, MD
Co-founder
Chairman

Dr. Sprandio co-founded Oncology Mangement Services in 1997 to help oncology practices improve the value of cancer care through the delivery model known as Oncology Patient Centered Medical Home®. 

 

Prior to founding OMS, Dr. Sprandio founded Consultants in Medical Oncology & Hematology (CMOH), a nine-physician medical oncology practice. CMOH was recognized by the NCQA as a level III PPC-PCMH™ in 2010. The practice was also recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) as one of 140 certified QOPI practices nationwide (Quality Oncology Practice Initiative) in 2010.

 

Dr. Sprandio has worked with various national organizations in the collaboration and promotion of the OPCMH model of cancer care, including National Committee for Quality Assurance, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, National Comprehensive Cancer Network, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the American Society of Hematology, the Community Oncology Alliance and the Cancer Support Community. 

Susan Tofani
Director, Payer & Network Relations
 

Ms. Tofani serves as director of payer and network relations for Oncology Management Services. In this role, she creates business relationships with oncology practices, oversees practice assessments and transformation to the Oncology Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care, and develops the contracts and payment approaches with health plans. 

 

Ms. Tofani has more than 30 years experience in oncology network development and innovative payment models, including leadership experience at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia. 

Joseph S. Duffey
Co- Founder
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Duffey has been an innovator in the Healthcare and Life Sciences field for over 20 years. He has been instrumental in introducing transformative payment and care models in the pursuit of increasing the value and quality of care. As co-founder and CEO of Oncology Mangement Services, Mr. Duffey played an integral role in transforming Consultants in Medical Oncology & Hematology (CMOHto the first specialty patient-centered medical home in the country. 

 

In addition to co-founding OMSMr. Duffey has been a key figure in the executive management of numerous operating companies representing a wide-range of industries, including: Pharmacueticals and Life Science, Manufacturing and Consumer Products, Technology, Oil and Gas, Healthcare Management and Hospitality. He is active in community-based non-profit organizations and serves on the Board of Directors for New Courtland Elder Services and Melmark, Inc.

 

Mr. Duffey earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School and his BBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

 

 

Brian Flounders
Director, Information Technology

Mr. Flounders joined Oncology Management Services in 2003 to design and implement what has grown into the Iris Clinical Decision Support software. Iris now serves as the cornerstone to the Oncology Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care. 

 

With other key members of the OMS clinical team, Brian focuses on the re-engineering of system processes and workflow supported by robust and user-friendly IT systems. He has a strong interest in assuring that the IT systems used at the point-of-care include physician friendly interfaces.

Maureen Lowry
Director
Clinical Operations and Process Implementation
 
Joseph W. Kaupp
Director
Strategy & Business Development

Ms. Lowry has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the Oncology Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care. In her role with OMS, she is responsible for conducting practice assessments and workflow analyses, and assists with practice transformation.  She was a key member of the team responsible for gaining NCQA Recognition and ASCO QOPI Certification for Consultants in Medical Oncology and Hematology.

Ms. Lowry has been an oncology nurse for over 25 years. She currently oversees nursing and laboratory staff and coordinates practice transitions to electronic medical records. Ms. Lowry maintains her Oncology Certification through the Oncology Nursing Society.

Mr. Kaupp plays a key role in strategic planning, financial management and business development for OMS. He previously served as a Management and Strategy Consultant at a global IT consultancy and played an integral role in the commercialization of early-stage biotechnology devices at a major research university in the United Kingdom.

 

 

Mr. Kaupp earned his MSc in Business Management with Highest Honors from Imperial College London and his BA from Pennsylvania State University and Universidad Veracruzana.
